Jesus Christ Superstar (1971)Andrew Lloyd WebberSoundtrack This is the greatest rock opera of all times tells the story of last seven days of Jesus' life: entry into Jerusalem, unrest caused by his preaching, his betrayal by Judas, trial before Pontius Pilate, and his crucifixion. The part of Jesus was sung by Ian Gillan (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) and that of Judas by Murray Head. My favorite tracks are "Heaven On Their Minds", "This Jesus Must Die", and "Gethsemane" ("I Only Want To Say").
The Cosmic Game (2005)Thievery CorporationElectronica Musicians of Thievery Corporation demonstrate their stylistic skills in electronica genre. They propose not just the album, but some kind of game, limbering-up for brains. Interlacing of sounds, down to psychedelia, leads you to a kind of space trip. And all of this magnificence accompanies a really outstanding vocal.
The Understanding (2005)RoyksoppElectronica The Understanding is a ripe and shaped album by Royksopp with deep, heartfelt sound full of charm and positive emotions. It doesn't exert, but relaxes, helps to sink into waves of languor after hard battles on designer fields.
Second Wind (1988)Pierre Moerlen's GongProgressive Rock I never listened to Gong before, but I know this is one of the most well-known bands of Canterbury Scene. "Second Wind" is all-instrumental album of lightweight progressive rock with pretty noticeable influences of jazz and funk. Three last tracks of this album are continuous drum solo, which slightly mars the favourable impression. But as a whole this is an interesting album.
Airbag: How Am I Driving? (1998)RadioheadExperimental Rock This wonderful EP can be considered as continuation of "OK Computer" released an year before in 1997, and this is the last Radiohead's release before this band is finally gone to electronica world with their next album "Kid A". In addition to "Airbag" taken from "OK Computer", this EP contains 6 completely new tracks, which sound really great. Well-done work of ripe musicians.
Big City Life (2005)MattafixVocal Intensive and pathetic bass coupled with unusual and melancholic vocal make an impression of truly fatality reflecting all stresses of present-day city life. Rhythmically, newly, actually. This band shows promise to me. It really stings.
